Bakerwell’s director gave a talk on upcoming changes in Ecology at the South East Construction Expo breakfast in early March this year.
The talk focused mainly on the new upcoming requirement for development projects to achieve a net gain in biodiversity. This new approach is expected to be made mandatory when the Environment Bill is published and essentially requires that biodiversity is left in a measurably better state after development than it was before the development commenced.
Other changes such as District Level Licensing for great crested newts and Environmental Net Gain was also covered.
Jonathon Buckwell from DHA Planning also gave a fantastic talk about new changes to the planning process.
The talk was held prior to the existing Covid-19 measures being put into place so was held in person, with a fantastic turn out to the first new breakfast networking event. Thank you to everyone at Best Business Events for organising a great morning!
